Mirroring

Subtly matching a person's posture, gesture, breathing, or voice to build unconscious rapport.

Mirroring is the most visible pacing behavior. The trainer adopts a softened version of the client's posture, tempo, and breathing. Done well, it is invisible; done badly, it looks like mimicry. The signal that mirroring is working is reciprocal: small shifts the trainer makes are followed by the client.
